Ionic (Manila) celebrated its inaugural Family Fun Day on March 16, 2024, at the Marikina Sports Center, marking a memorable day for seafarers and their families. The event kicked off with an energetic Zumba session led by the center’s resident instructor, setting a lively tone for the day’s activities.
Attendees were divided into four spirited teams: Red, Blue, Pink, and Black, each representing a vibrant spirit of unity and friendly competition. The Black Team set the pace by clinching victory in the first game against the Red Team, showcasing their skills and determination.
In a thrilling showdown, the Blue Team triumphed over the Pink Team in the second game, demonstrating their prowess and teamwork on the court. Pink Team emerges as the 2nd runner up after they defeated the Red Team in the Loser’s Bracket.
In the final game, a gripping battle between the Blue Team and the Black Team, witnessed intense competition and sportsmanship, culminating in the Blue Team’s victory as the 1st Family Fun Day Champions.
The event also honored standout players with special awards, recognizing the exemplary performances of the Mythical Five which consists of two Senior Officers who have been an active advocate of health and wellness namely, Capt. Balistoy and CE Castillo. Mythical Five also consists of MSM Capayas along with two relatives of the Ionic Seafarers.
Additionally, AB Monje’s nephew was lauded as the season’s MVP, celebrating his exceptional skills and contributions to the team.
